SkySensor 2000

Data Bases

The SkySensor 2000 has 13 databases. Some of these databases have fixed objects. Some of the databases are for user entered objects. All user entered objects an be given a text names. All changeable data is stored in the battery backed up RAM. When stepping through these data bases using the NEXT and PREVIOUS keys, only those objects that are above the defined local horizon and brighter than the selected magnitude will be displayed. You can select any object that does not meet the selection criteria by entering the object's number. If you do this, you can view and modify the information, but you can not GOTO the object unless it above the local horizon.

Reference Stars: 35 bight stars. Usually used for alignment.

Messier: 108 Messier object.

Planets: 8 Planets

Moon: Selects the center of the Moon.

NGC: 4841 NGC objects brighter than magnitude 15

IC: 1352 IC objects brighter than magnitude 15

SAO: 422 stars brighter than magnitude 4.0

Comet: 30 User defined comets. Each comet requires the entry of 8 orbital parameters.

Satellite: 30 User defined satellites. Each satellite requires the entry of 8 orbital parameters.

User 1: 30 User defined sky objects. Requires setting the object's RA/DEC.

User 2: 30 User more defined sky objects. Requires setting the object's RA/DEC.

Land: 30 User defined land objects: Requires setting the object's alt/az

Sun: Selects the Sun. Not shown unless Sun Observation parameter set to yes.

Notes:

  1. When a Land Object is selected sidereal tracking is turned off.
  2. The parameters for User 1, User 2 and Land can be entered via the keypad. Alternatively, the STORE key can be used to store the current telescope position. Objects from any of the other databases can be stored into User 1 and User2.
